MAD Diva Does The Bahamas – Super Bowl Weekend 2020

Well I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. Sometimes life just moves so fast and the time just passes you by at the speed of light! But of course I couldn’t wait to blog about something cool such as a vacation or cool getaway! So for those of you who may or may not have known, I became a travel agent last March 2019 and I’m almost hitting my one year anniversary! Yay me! Lol!

My very first booking I booked the Super Bowl Cruise leaving Miami on Navigator of the Seas via Royal Caribbean. And surprisingly I ended up booking almost 30 people. The cruise was called #GirlsTripOnACruiseShip and it originally started off as a girls trip, but then I said why limit myself on my commission so I changed the has tag to #SinglesTripOnACruiseShip nonetheless it was my very first cruise besides the turnaround cruise I did overnight to Ensenada with Norwegian Joy which doesn’t so much count.

But anywho… Now to the trip! We basically arrived in Miami on Thursday evening a day before. Some of the ladies got there even sooner.
So first stop was Miami for the first leg of the trip. I flew in and then I picked up my rental car from Green Motion. They were pretty cool to rent from. They have a complimentary shuttle that picks you up at the airport and drops you back off. However they do NOT offer a shuttle service for you to get to the Cruise Port from Miami International Airport. So keep in mind that you have to have accommodations if you happen to book with them. Be sure to check that with whoever you book with if you plan to get a rental car and tour the town before you leave for a cruise out of Miami.

A little bit after I landed, I went to pick up my roomie Daysha! This crazy girl flies in to Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami and I’m at the airport looking for her at MIA! So she had to wait for me to drive down to get her once we realized I was at the wrong airport. As soon as I swoop her, we do a food run off top! It’s always a ritual for me to stop by Fingah Lickin for me a plate. They closed at 12:00 midnight and when I tell you WE PULLED UP AND WALKED IN AT 11:55 WE WERE SO HUNGRY AND HAPPY TO MAKE THE CUT OFF!

They were nice enough to still let us eat inside so that was cool! We didn’t really hang out because we didn’t want to be late boarding the cruise ship in the afternoon. We kinda just chilled at our Air BnB for the night! Our Air BnB was a back house with a full kitchen, it was a studio with 2 bed and one bathroom. The bathroom was kinda tiny but the place was clean and it was only $80.00 for the night! So that was a steal being that it was super bowl weekend and not too far from where we needed to be the next day. Not to mention they had a parking spot for us on the premises.

I swear by Air BnB! It’s so convenient and I like the idea of kind of having my own privacy instead of a hotel setting sometimes.

The next morning…

We met up with some friends while in Miami before boarding the cruise ship. We went to Big Pink for breakfast and I ordered me this huge chicken and waffle. It was everything!!! It was definitely enough for two people to share for share. Especially if you order you a side of those yummy breakfast potatoes!

Joy (my Yorkie) and I had stopped there for breakfast last time I was in Miami so I’ve added that to my must visit foodie list for Miami officially! We didn’t really do any of the activities or things while on board the cruise ship, we never even made it to the club. Lol! I think I may have had the most fun while actually in the Bahamas. The cruising is cool but I like to be off the ship and sight seeing. I really wish that we could have spent more time in the Bahamas. It definitely wasn’t enough time to do much and I wasn’t getting left there. I wanted to do some excursions and tours but I had hired Marky G Photography who did such an AWESOME JOB so we did a photo shoot and video shoot on the beach.

We went to a bar, we later on had lunch at one of the restaurants along the beach, we rode the horses in the water and we headed back to the cruise ship. I was super bummed about not even making it to Atlantis so I definitely must return back to the Bahamas and this time not on a cruise ship schedule.

As far as the cruise itself, I kinda expected more. I was mainly disappointed because instead of us being able to take advantage of the infinity pool and floating cabanas at Co Co Cay we had to spend the whole day at Sea because the waves were too choppy for us to make it after all so I kinda feel like I got played out of my trip although it was totally out of Royal Caribbean’s hands and more like a Mother Nature thing. This was the first weekend they were opening and we were supposed to be the first ones to use them and that was kind of the highlight of my trip. Talk about TRAVEL SLAY KILL!

Here is what we were SUPPOSED to experience:

The Food & Drinks On Board:

The drinks were pretty good. I suggest a drink package if you like to drink. I didn’t bother to get the drink package because I don’t really drink like that however I did indulge in maybe 4 drinks the whole cruise. Lol! Oh and their orange juice and apple juice, soooooooooo good! Like it came from heaven’s garden!

The dinner portions were small on the cruise ship when we went to go eat. But what I do try to remind my clients of, when you are at dinner eating you are more than welcome to ORDER UP! Like if you want to try the steak plate and the chicken plate, by all means you paid for as much food as you’d like to eat so don’t think just because it’s not a buffet you can’t pig out because you legit can! Try all of the desserts on the menu. In other words, go ahead and splurge a little! Lol! I’m more of a buffet kinda girl because I like options, however I do like the 5 star service that was given at the restaurants in the cruise ship. Their staff is pretty hospitable and accommodating which is always appreciated. The stateroom was nice I didn’t have any complaints. However cruise ship bathrooms are kind of small so also be mindful of that. And I’m a germaphobe so I’m wearing slippers in the shower and all of that. Lol!

We ended up getting the room with the balcony and I purposely put us all the way at the end. We had the Bluetooth speaker bumping, I made sure to put my homegirls on the surrounding rooms and it was pretty chill. The weather wasn’t too hot but we were still able to indulge in good times with cocktails poolside, and capture some dope memories.

We did a Nipsey Blue Night for dinner to pay our respects to the great late Nipsey Hussle.

I slept through the all white party AND through the actual super bowl game. I should be ashamed of myself right?! Since I was bummed about missing Co Co Cay and having to be on the ship a whole extra day basically I was pretty much ready to get off by this time. I leave the next evening did another run to Fingah Lickin because YES IT IS THAT GOOD and I spent some time at the beach and had a little mini photo shoot! I think I had more fun off the ship than on the ship! Lol! Well not to mention my actual time in the Bahamas was fun too!
