Wayback Wednesday – The Little MAD Diva Fashionista Edition

When I was little I used to model in fashion shows. My mother owned her own clothing store and it was called “Val & Lynique’s Infants & Children’s Wear”. She named it after my cousin and I. I used to hate wearing petticoats and ruffled socks with patent leather shoes. She used to always dress my up like I was a damn baby doll and I hated it.

Now that I fast forward about 30 years later, I think this is why I HATE wearing hills and getting all dressed up and I love my casual clothes. I’m happy with some jeans a tank top and some sandals or tennis shoes.

I don’t like my feet hurting and I’m not for having ugly feet so I stay out of heels as much as I can and every time I put them on, after 10 minutes if that long I’m ready to take them off. Despite the fact that I’m only 5 feet y’all I still don’t care to wear heels and I embrace being petite. I was always the smallest one out of the bunch but never the loudest one. I was used to being an only child because my sibling and I weren’t always together if at all. My great aunt raised me since I was 3 months old so that’s who I’m referring to as my mother. My father ended up putting these damn clothing racks in my room because I had sooooooo many clothes as a kid that they were running out of my closet.

Today I absolutely HATE SHOPPING if it isn’t for bar or catering or event coordinating. I’m not the type to run to the malls and boutiques just to get an outfit to wear one time. I don’t care about who sees me in what how many times because I’m not a fashion icon and I can’t afford to dress how I’d like to so I don’t worry keeping up with the fads and trends. I set my own instead. Fashion is fun. But, I’m not going to spend money trying to impress people who could give a damn at the end of the day anyway…

I’d rather invest into my brand and do what’s going to expand my business instead. It was a great childhood experience learning the ends and outs of business and running one as a little girl. I was 7 years old knowing how to work a cash register and charge people’s credit cards, handle store inventory, learning visuals and logistics and more. So I developed a business Lindsey at a very early age, it just took me some time to figure out my passion!
